Dehydrated Sweet Potatoes Recipe

  • Author: Patrick
  • Total Time: 8 hours, 30 minutes

Description

This nutritious dehydrated sweet potato recipe is made with only one ingredient – sweet potatoes! Easy for beginners and experts alike, you can make these dehydrated sweet potatoes in a food dehydrator at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs sweet potatoes

Instructions

  1. Clean your hands and table tops, and sterilize all the equipment.
  2. Wash and peel the sweet potatoes.
  3. With a mandoline slicer or sharp knife, cut them into even slices, or dice them into small cubes.
  4. Blanch the sweet potatoes by boiling them for 2–3 minutes, then immediately place them in ice-cold water to stop the cooking process. This will help preserve their color and nutrients.
  5. Use cold water to rinse them and let excess water run off of them by placing them in a strainer.
  6. Pat the sweet potatoes dry with a paper towel to remove as much moisture as possible.
  7. Arrange the sweet potato slices or cubes in a single layer on a dehydrator tray, leaving space between each piece.
  8. Set the dehydrator to 125–135°F (52–57°C) and let it run for 8–12 hours or until the sweet potatoes are dry and crispy.
  9. Once the sweet potatoes are dehydrated, let them cool completely and store them in an airtight container or zip-lock bag in a cool, dry place.
